RM2CD0EKB–A (composite) photograph of suffragette Lady Florence Norman suffragette riding an Autoped widely recognised as the very first motor scooter. It was made by the Autoped Company of Long Island City, New York , USA, between 1915 to 1922. It was also known as a Krupp-Roller and was was manufactured by Krupp in Germany from 1919 to 1922. Florence Priscilla, Lady Norman, CBE JP (nee McLaren - 1883 - 1964) . In WWI she ran a voluntary hospital in Wimereux, France and was awarded the Mons Star. During the Second World War she was a driver for the Women's Voluntary Service in London.
