Glyn Hughes, industrial sculptor and designer of the statue, oversees the operation. Alan Mathison Turing OBE was an English mathematician, computer scientist, logician, and cryptanalyst. In WW2 he led a team that was responsible for breaking German ciphers of the Enigma machine. Turing was then influential in developing computer science at the University of Manchester.
