Show business stars, M Ps and clergymen joined the massive anti-Smith vote at the Trafalgar Square rally organised by the Anti Apartheid Movement. The Rally began with a banner-waving march from Marble Arch. Later a deputation marshed to Downing Street and handed in a letter expessing ''deep concern'' over the Government's failure to remove the Smith regime

RME0XJ9M–Jan. 16, 1967 - 16-1-67 Duncan Sandys holds a Peace-in-Rhodesia rally. Mr. Duncan Sandys, Tory M.P. yesterday held a Peace With Rhodesia rally in Trafalgar Square. After the rally, he was surrounded by a jeering crowd as he tried to reach his car. Some young demonstrators jumped on the car and others tried to overturn it. It was twenty minutes before Mr. Sandys and other Conservative MP's who had spoken at the rally were able to get clear of the crowd. Young Conservatives, Young Liberals and extremist groups from Right and Left were involved in scuffles during the rally and afterwards
