RCA's TP-66 was introduced in 1964 and became widely used in television stations around the world for 16mm silent and magnetic sound film playback, both live on-air and to videotape for editing or delayed broadcast. Also used for playing a station's commericals, they were an industry workhorse designed to run 24/7, playing back the film content that made up much television programming in television's first 30 years.
