The photograph shows some plates of breakfast dishes – beans on toast, a fry-up and melted cheese on toast. Graphic gold ‘hearts’ indicate that Hovis is ‘the golden heart of the meal’. At the base is the popular slogan ‘Don’t say brown – say Hovis’. Hovis Ltd is a British company that produces flour and bread. The brand originated in Stoke-on-Trent and was first mass-produced in Macclesfield, Cheshire, in 1886 – vintage 1960s graphics for editorial use.
