RME0PXH5–Apr. 04, 1957 - Flight Over Wight Flying with Britain;s Royal Air Force Transport Command is the de Havilland Comet II jet transport. Powered by four Rolls Royce Avon 117 turbo-jets, each of 7,350 lb. thrust, the plane has a cruising speed of around 500 mph. It is fitted with a strengthened freight-carrying floor and, like all other planes of the Transport Command, backward-facing seats. RME0MJT2–Sep. 09, 1955 - New records set up in parachute contest in the U.S.S.R.. The 8th U.S.S.R. Parachute Contest ended recently at Tushino Aerodrome, near Moscow. A number of new world height records were set up. Keystone Photo Shows: G. Mukhina who beat the national and world records for the combined jumps from an altitude of 1,600 metres with delayed opening of the parachute and landing in a circle.
