A survey of the foreign situation was made by Mr David Lloyd George at the meeting of the London and Home Counties Councils of action in Caxton Hall, Westminster. RMWHACPF–Baron Forrester. The Pousada is named in honour of one the great names of the Port Wineindustry. In 1831 the 22 year old Englishman, Joseph James Forrester, came to Porto to join his uncle's firm of Offleys Forresterand Company. He soon produced high quality hand drawn maps of theproduction region and also paintings and watercolours of the Douro and Porto. He wrote on technical matters relating to Port Wine includinga pamphlet accusing the port wine shippers af malpractice.. . He was later made a Baron Forrester by the king for his services to Port Wine.

RMWH8HWH–Map of the world by Orontius Finaeus, 1566. Oronce Finé (in Latin, Orontius Finnaeus or Finaeus) (1494-1555), French mathematician and cartographer. Born in Briançon, the son and grandson of physicians, he was educated in Paris (Collège de Navarre), and obtained a degree in medicine in 1522. He invented a heart-shaped map projection, frequently utilized by other cartographers, such as Peter Apian and Gerardus Mercator. RMWH8HX8–Sir Francis Drake, (c.1540-1596) was an English privateer, navigator, naval pioneer and raider, politician, civil engineer, and boating enthusiast of the Elizabethan period. He was the first captain to completely circumnavigate the globe (Magellan did not live to finish his circumnavigation).
