Feb. 02, 1976 - The Lockheed pay-off scandal. Assistant District Attorney Llario Martella ordered the arrest of Camillo Crociani, who resigned as President of Finmeccanica, the state holding company for engineering firms. He quit after learning the board was about to fire him for his links to companies charged as go-betweens for the Lockheed Aircraft Co. Crociani, whom police said has probably left Italy, was under investigation on suspicion of participating in bringing unidentified Italian civil servants. The charges against him were not immediately disclosed

The Lockheed Ventura, also known as the Lockheed B-34 Lexington, was a twin engine medium bomber of World War II, used by United States and British Commonwealth forces in several guises, including maritime patrol. It was used in daylight attacks against occupied Europe, but proved to have weaknesses and were removed from bomber duty to be replaced by the de Havilland Mosquito in the summer of 1943.

1973, historical, passengers disembarking from a Lockheed Tristar airplance (L-1011), the most technologically-advanced widebody commercial aircraft in the world. Court Line Aviation, a British holiday charter company, were the first European airline to operate the Lockheed widebody. The TriStar was powered by the Rolls-Royce RB211 engine, a three-spool engine capable of generating incredible thrust.

A Lockheed F-104 Starfighter supersonic jet plane is mounted on the side of the SKETCH Foundation Gallery of Air and Space Exhibits building at the California Science Center in Los Angeles, California, USA. The U.S. Air Force procured about 300 Starfighters following the F-104's initial flight in 1954. It was the first aircraft to fly at twice the speed of sound and set a world speed record of 1,404 mph in 1959. That was followed a year later by a world altitude record of 103,395 feet. The 1984 building that supports the plane is first major public work by acclaimed architect Frank Gehry.

The Lockheed TriStar, with its Rolls-Royce RB.211 engines, is here for three days of demonstration flights with Britain's biggest holiday airline, Court Line Aviation. Court Line have ordered two 440-seat TriStars with three more on option and will be bringing it into service, the first airline to do so in Europe, next spring when it will operate exclusively for the UK's number one tour company, Clarkson's Holidays. The TriStar, which is also expected to be ordered by BEA, today gave a demonstration flight at Luton
