RMMG6JWT–John of Lancaster, 1st Duke of Bedford, (1389 – 1435), was a 15th century English nobleman, magnate, soldier, and statesman, the third surviving son of King Henry IV of England, and brother to King Henry V. He was one of the leading English commanders during the Hundred Years' War, and acted as regent of France for his nephew, King Henry VI of England, who by the Treaty of Troyes (1420) also reigned as disputed King Henry II of France.

RMP20HD8–The execution of Archbishop Richard Scope in York following a rebellion against King Henry IV on June 8th, 1405. in 1405, Henry Percy, Earl of Northumberland, Thomas Mowbray, Earl of Norfolk and Richard Scrope, Archbishop of York rebelled against excessive taxation, maltreatment of the Church and the clergy, and corruption in the King’s household. They raised an army of common people in Yorkshire, but stood them down when Ralph Neville, Earl of Westmorland, assured Scrope and Mowbray that their grievances would be met. But Westmorland had them imprisoned, then beheaded outside the city.

RM2A92H4B–Prince William Henry, 1765-1837, later William IV, King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and also King of Hanover from 1830 until his death. The engraving shows him as a midshipman in the Royal Navy which he joined at 13 years of age. He was present at the Battle of Cape Vincent in 1780 when he was 14 and the picture is thought to commemorate that event. The print by Francesco Bartolozzi is based on a work by artist Benjamin West and was published in 1782.

On 7 February 1403, Joan married King Henry IV, also known as Henry Bolingbroke, at Winchester Cathedral, and on the 26th, she held her formal entry to London, where she was crowned queen of England. Queen Joan was described as beautiful, gracious and majestic, but also as greedy and stingy, and was accused of accepting bribes. RMMADBA1–King Richard II (1367 – 1400) was a son of Edward the Black Prince and King of England from the age of ten in 1377 until he was deposed on 30 September 1399 by his cousin Henry IV. He reigned in conflict with Parliament; and executed some of the opposing barons in 1397. Others including his cousin Henry Bolingbroke, Duke of Hereford (later Henry IV) were exiled and made himself absolute. In 1399 Bolingbroke returned from exile to lead a revolt; Richard II was deposed by Parliament and imprisoned in Pontefract Castle, where he died of starvation.
