With its novel architectural design of an inverted pyramid, The Pier opened in 1973 but was demolished in 2015 after deteriorating over the years. Water from the Colorado River now flows under the granite bridge, which was bought at auction from the City of London for $2.5 million by American entrepreneur Robert P. McCulloch.
