Ousted from France as a potential French King, Philippe volunteered to serve as a Union Army officer in the American Civil War. He was an historian, journalist and outspoken democrat.

Alypius of Antioch was commissioned to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem and Jews were allowed to return to the city of Jerusalem. The death of Julian in 363 AD ended the attempt.
