RFWA2709–This sleepy cat resting outdoors on an old wrought-iron chair is one of dozens of felines roaming the residence of famed author Ernest Hemingway who lived from 1931-39 at 907 Whitehead Street in Key West in the Florida Keys, Florida, USA. Many of these descendants of Hemingway's furry pets are polydactyl cats that have six toes instead of the usual five toes on their front paws and four toes on the back paws. These unusual animals can be seen by visitors at the privately-owned Hemingway House, which was built in 1851 and now is a U.S. National Historic Landmark open daily for tours.
