RM2GJ0DX2–DIXIE DEAN Dixie Dean, the celebrated Everton centre-forward, first became famous as a schoolboy footballer in Birkenhead, and when only fifteen joined Tranmere Rovers. In 1925 he was secured by Everton, after great competition for his services, and in 1827-28 he set up an English goal-scoring record, with sixty in league football and eighty-two in all matches played that season. Having secured several league championship medals, besides numerous international caps, Dean captained the victorious cup final team of 1933

Everton won the game 1-0, thanks to a goal from Dixie Dean. This was one of the first occasions on which footballers wore numbers on the back of their shirts.
