Inside a tent at the York rally, pinned up, with description, a design created by the Bakewell, Derbyshire region of the Royal British Legion to celebrate the CTC's centenary. Founded in 1878 in Harrogate, England, UK, as the Bicycle Touring Club, it was renamed the Cyclists' Touring Club (CTC) in 1883. The design shows the traditional victorian logo or emblem of the CTC, the winged wheel, created in 1886 and indicating a welcome for cyclists. The logo became one of British cycling's most recognisable symbols.
