RMG4AMPX–02/10/1869 - On this Day in History - One of the great spiritual leaders in World History, Mohandas K Gandhi, known as the Mahatma, was born in Pornader Province, India. MAHATMA GANDHI 1930: Gandhi greets supporters shortly before his arrest in Bombay for causing civil disturbances. Gandhi (1869-1948) played a major part in the struggle for Home Rule for India and was frequently imprisoned for acts of Civil Disobedience against the Raj.

Martin Luther King Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was an American Christian minister and activist who became the most visible spokesperson and leader in the Civil Rights Movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, King is best known for advancing civil rights through nonviolence and civil disobedience, inspired by his Christian beliefs and the nonviolent activism of Mahatma Gandhi.
