Named after a 14th century peasants revolt leader, it was originally a coaching inn and believed to be the highest pub in London. Because of WW2 damage, in 1964, the pub was rebuilt, being redesigned and enlarged with a new facia to mimic the style of an 18th century coaching inn. In 2002 the building was converted into luxury flats and in 2008 a gym replaced what had become a ground floor restaurant, a sign of the times in modern Britain.

RM2DT09CJ–The building was opened to the public in 1877 as The Victoria restaurant offering food along with wine and Guinness. By 1891 and up until 1912 or later it was The Victoria Restaurant And Hotel. Between 1923 and 1967 it stayed stable at The Victoria Hotel. A Yeovil brewery, Brutton, Mitchell and Toms (1937-60) owned the building when Charringtons took them over and then Charrington merged with Bass. At the time of this photo (1975) the fascia sign is 'The Victoria - Charrington' while the gallows sign is for 'The New Victoria - Bass'. By 1985 it was Garbo's and by 1989 The Pink Pelican.
