RM2HE2G7A–A late 19th Century illustration of Adelaide, named in honour of Queen Adelaide, the city was founded in 1836 as the planned capital for the only freely-settled British province in Australia. Colonel William Light, one of Adelaide's founding fathers, designed the city centre and chose its location close to the River Torrens. Early colonial Adelaide was shaped by the diversity and wealth of its free settlers, in contrast to the convict history of other Australian cities.
RM2D7RR66–An old photograph, c.1924, of The British Empire Exhibition held at Wembley Park, Wembley, England, UK from 23.04.1924 to 31.10.1925. This view looks down the boating lake towards the Indian Pavilion. The main building material used for the buildings was reinforced concrete, (‘ferro-concrete’), selected for its speed of construction. Wembley Park earned the title of the first ‘concrete city’. The Indian pavilion had towers and domes in the style of the Taj Mahal. For economic and political reasons, the Indian Government did not take part in the 1925 season.

This is a variety store (often a ‘five and dime’, a pound shop, or dollar store). It is a shop selling goods at discounted fixed prices, such as a dollar or five or ten cents or pennies.
