The former Royal Engineers Sapper arrived on Juno beach on 6th June 1944 with the 155 Brigade Highland Division on a landing craft with his Bren gun equipped scout car. Today, the 76-year-old believes the Holocaust should be an essential subject for schoolchildren if we are to avoid a repeat of the atrocities. He was a teenager when captured and imprisoned in the concentration camp, in north-west Germany, in 1944.
