Oct. 10, 1966 - ''Portrait Of A Naval Officer'' Sketch Discovered To Be Of Nelson: An oil sketch catalogued as ''Portrait of a Naval Officer'', by Sir William Beechey, bought for under 200 at Benham's earlier this year, has been discovered to be a study - almost certainly from life - of Nelson. The discovery was made by the St. James's Street dealer, Hugh Leggatt, and his colleagues. As auctioned it was in shocking condition - both dirty and over-painted. But cleaning showed it to be in remarkably good order. It's ''impossible to value it.'' ,-says Hugh Leggatt Stock Photohttps://www.alamy.com/image-license-details/?v=1https://www.alamy.com/oct-10-1966-portrait-of-a-naval-officer-sketch-discovered-to-be-of-image69425388.html
