The aggressive characteristic of Mut was embodied in the goddess Sekhmet. Amenhotep (ruled c.1356-1383 B.c.)was the ninth pharaoh of the ancient Egyptian 18th Dynasty -during the period known as the New Kingdom. He created many many statues of Sekhmet/Mut - some seen here in ruins. Amenhotep hope they would help keep illness away from him.
