RM2K0MP12–OLD WHITBY (North Yorkshire) and its history --- A representation of part of an inscription found on the remains of a foundation stone when constructing Raven Hall at Ravenscar near Whitby in 1774 (some records say 1717) when building Pak House, otherwise known as Raven Halll built by Captain William Childs of London. A Captain in the King's Regiment of light Dragoons. In the 1500's the ruins and a farm on the site were owned by John Beswick. It has been translated as 'Justinianus, commander; Vindicianus, magister, built this tower and fort from alpha to omega' (begining to end).
