Will Powell from Ysradgnlais, Nr Swansea has now been given a national campaign award for patient safety by the charity Action against medical Accidents. Mr Powell's son Robbie died in 1990 aged 10 from a treatable condition that doctors missed. Robbie was seen seven times by five doctors before Mr Powell took Robbie to Morriston Hospital, Swansea were he died. Robbie was later found to have suffered from Addison's Disease that is a treatable glandular condition. An inquest in 2004 returned a death by natural causes but decided negligence played a part in his death. The Crown Prosecution Services said there was sufficient evidence to prosecute however no charges have been brought.
