Vintage photo circa 1912 of American composer and lyricist Irving Berlin (1888 - 1989) and his first wife Dorothy Goetz. Russian-born Berlin (born Israel Baline) is considered to have been one of the greatest songwriters in history - penning hundreds of songs and numerous major hits. His famous works include "White Christmas" and "Puttin' On The Ritz". Berlin married Goetz in 1912 but she died just a few months later from typhoid fever. Photo by Bain News Service.
