The popular Grade 1 listed mid-Victorian sculptures in stone and plaster at the Dinosaur Court at Crystal Palace Park lake South London, were made in 1854, appearing in public 6 years before Darwin's book. The Victorians took a massive interest in prehistoric life, fossils and geology. Originally the antlers were real elk fossil antlers but had to be replaced by stone and plaster work after damage.
