Corinth Canal which connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. The canal was started in 1882 and completed in 1893. It's 3.9 miles (6.3 Km) long and 70 feet (21.3m) wide at its base. It saves a 430 miles (700 Km) journey around the Peloponnese although its too narrow for many modern vessels and is used mainly for tourism trips.
