Tomb in the City of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India, exemplifying Mughal architecture, often regarded as the prototype of the Taj Mahal and hence occasionally referred to as the ‘Baby Taj’. Built in 1622 to 1628 in white marble and encrusted with precious and semi-precious stones stones, it is quadrangular in shape with octagonal towers in the corners. The mausoleum was built on the orders of Nur Jehan wife of the Emperor Jehangir in veneration of her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg who was given the honorific title I’timad-ud-Daulah for his exemplary services to the Mughal state.
