The Victoria Pass is a masterpiece of engineering as it winds down the western slopes of the Blue Mountains crossing a narrow ridge near Mount York. It was completed in 1832. Major Mitchell was the surveyor General a the time. On November 10 1830 Supervisor Elliot reported to Mitchell that 79 men were employed on the Pass of Victoria in grubbing and rolling off the timber, 39 men in quarrying rock and six masons were engaged in building the wall.
