The photographers Grace and Thurston Hopkins at their home in Seaford, Sussex. One of the great British photojournalists Thurston Hopkins, was 94 when this was taken (he died in 2014 aged 101). He photographed people and communities all over the world for Picture Post. His wife Grace Robertson is an iconic photographer in her own right who submitted her first pictures to Picture Post at the age of nineteen, under a male pseudonym. She pioneered a documentary style, recording Britain’s post-war life and especially the lives of women in the home and out of it. She was 77 in 2007 when this was taken.
