More than 12, 000 members of the Orange Order from Scotland, Northern Ireland and England marched through the streets of Edinburgh on the Saturday 24th March as part of the yearly Orange Order parades. The number of participants more than doubled those expected and was the largest parade for 50 years. The popularity of the march was put down to the strong support for the Union and the the increasing threat to it by the rise in popularity of the Nationalists (the SNP, who wish Scotland to gain independent again). This year is also the 300th anniversary of the Act of Union in 1707. This picture was taken outside the City Chambers on the High Street.
