Parked trains, in the railway depot at Shinzaike depot on the Hanshin Dentetsu line, thrown onto their sides by the Kobe Earthquake that struck Hyogo prefecture in western Japan on Tuesday, January 17, 1995 at 5.46am. The quake’s focus was in northern Awaji Island, and it had a magnitude of 7.2 on the Richter scale, resulting in over 6,400 deaths.
