Fleet Street has been synonymous with the printing industry and the press since the 16th century but since the mid 1980's the main newspapers have abandoned their Fleet Street offices (the agency Reuters was last to leave). This is the former headquarters of the Daily Express at 121-128 Fleet Street built in the Art Deco style in 1930-32 by Sir Owen Williams with the architects Ellis and Clarke. Nicknamed the Black Lubianka the building is covered with black Vitrolite and clear glass with chrome strips.
