Syrian migrants fleeing the war and escaping to Europe, who have landed on the Greek island of Lesvos on the north coast at Efthalou, here holding up ferry tickets that will allow them off the island to the Greek mainland. Up to 4,000 migrants a day are landing on the island and overwhelming the authorities. They are traficked by illegal Turkish people traffickers who charge up to $2,000 per person for a half hour ride in an overcrowded inflateable boat from the Turkish mainland to Lesvos.
