The Space Shuttle Discovery climbs towards space from Cape Canaveral, as part of mission STS-41, on October 6th, 1990. The shuttle carried the Ulysses Solar Polar Satellite, deploying it just six hours after launch. Discovery returned to Earth on October 10th. Note the characteristic pale blue cone-shaped flames of the Shuttle's engines.
