General exterior view of St Peter's Church, Heysham, looking NW. Anglo-Saxon in origin, the first church may have been founded in C7th/C8th, it retains some pre-Conquest fabric. Chancel built 1340-50, its S aisle added in C15th, N aisle in 1864. Remains of an C8th chapel dedicated to St Patrick stand on a rock outcrop overlooking the sea just W (rear L) of the church.
