Bluebell, spanish bluebell, spring wild flower, flowers in April, lovely shade of blue, upright habit, will grow almost anywhere although prefers woodland floor, bulb, long, thin leaves in dark green with spikes of bell like blue flowers standing about 10 inches high, self propagating. Flowering period lasts about two weeks. Bluebells are tarditional british wild flowers that hail the onset of Spring and can be seen carpeting woodland floors all around the British Isles. but we are being invaded by the spanish bluebell wich is stronger, bigger and taller and slightly lighter in colour. There is a fear that this species will eventially replace the british species. Hyacinthoides hispanica Scilla hispanica
