Just before sunrise, a morning mist blankets the temples in the plain of Bagan. Around 900 years ago ( between approximately 1150 and 1287 CE) the rulers of this rich and fertile area commissioned about 4000 temples which are scattered across the 26 square miles of the plain. The temples remain sacred Buddhist places and the much restoration has been undertaken.
