By Skip Moody / Dembinsky Photo Associates www.dpaphoto.com This fleshy mushroom appears in both Summer and Autumn months in several different habitats including lawns, yards, gardens, deciduous forests, wood chips, and even pastures, throughout the Eastern USA. Its white, fleshy caps deteriorate rapidly, turning into an ink-like liquid. Hence, they are often called Ink Cap Mushrooms.
