A huge fire at a waste recycling plant is billowing thick black smoke across east London. Twelve fire engines and 81 firefighters have been battling the blaze at the recycling centre in Creek Way, Rainham, since 9.30am this morning. It is estimated about 100 tonnes of household waste is alight. Eight workers left the plant before fire crews arrived and no one was injured.
