Thousands of runners are taking part in the 2016 Great South Run in the waterfront city of Portsmouth today, 23rd October 2016. The 10 mile road running event is hailed as the world's greatest 10-mile race by event organisers, and is a fast and flat course that starts and finishes in Southsea. The course passes through the Historic Dockyard, Portsmouth Guildhall and around Southsea Common, passing maritime landmarks including HMS Warrior, HMS Victory and the Mary Rose Museum. Amongst the thousands of runners taking part is three-time Olympic champion and nine-time World Champion, TIRUNESH DIBABA from Ethiopia, who is competing in her debut 10-mile event.
