More information:

SCARLET SWALLOWTAIL (Papilio rumanzovia) A butterfly of the family Papilionidae. It can be found in Australasia/Indomalaya and encompasses Celebes, Borneo, Java, Sumatra and the Phillippines. Wingspan is 12-14cm. Wings are black in colour with great scarlet cycles. Hind wings have no tails. There is one form of the male, but numerous forms of the female having either red bands or red and white spotted pattern at the top of their wings. Their striking red warning colours are the butterflies best weapon to try and frighten off predators, although they are not themselves poisonous.
