OWL electricity energy monitor display. the monitor is displaying a current cost of 8.985 pence per hour and an overall cost of electricity used of £3311 since the unit was set up. The energy monitor display connects wirelessly to a current use detector attached to electricity cables adjacent to the standard domestic electricity meter. By sensing changes in magnetic flux around the cable, the device is able to provide information on energy usage, updating the display every few seconds. Tariff data entered into the unit by the user enables the usage information to be displayed as a current cost per hour, along with running totals for the day, week and month.
