Oradour: site of Nazi Massacre - crumbling buildings and rusting cars - left intact as it was on the order of General De Gaulle.
Oradour-sur-Glane massacre by Nazis in 1944
French town left in ruins exactly as it stood after the massacre of 642 residents including hundreds of women and children.
After the war, General Charles de Gaulle decided the village should never be rebuilt, but would remain a memorial to the cruelty of the Nazi occupation.
