Newer buildings and car parking space which form part of the Bolton Royal Hospital. The main part of the hospital dates from Victorian times. The hospital has extended considerably, particularly in the latter part of the 20th century when the Bolton Royal Infirmary near the town centre was closed and most Bolton hospital services consolidated on the Farnworth site.
