New York, NY - May 28 2010 - Five weeks after the April 20th 2010 deep hole water horizon explosion in the Gulf of Mexico, several hundred protesters shut down the BP gas station, at Houston and Lafayette Street. The environmental catastrophe resulted in the worst oil spill in US history. Groups including Times Up and Code Pink are calling accountability, for the company to improve its safety record, and an end to off shore drilling, further use of alternative energy sources. The flashmob protest used texting technology to enable several activists organizations to coordinate their efforts.
