Mt Chacaltaya is probably Bolivia's highest profile example of disappearing glaciers Once famed as having the world's highest ski lift (the summit is at 5,295m) the glacier has been vanishing rapidly in recent years and had melted completely by 2012. How much of this disappearance is due to global warming and how much due local climate changed caused by the rapid expansion of nearby La Paz and El Alto is open to debate.
