The Design Museum opens in its new home on Kensington High Street, west London. Housed in the former Commonwealth Institute, the building has been redesigned by John Pawson following an investment of £83m to the Grade-II listed building, and a five-year construction process for its future role as the world’s leading institution dedicated to contemporary design and architecture.
