Rome, Italy. The loggia overlooking the Forum of Trajan belonging to the Case dei Cavalieri di Rodi (houses of the Knights of Rodi, i.e. of the Order of Malta). The houses were built from XII to XV century over the left exedra of the Forum of Augustus. The present look is due to the works carried on after 1466 by the Cardinal Marco Barbo, nephew of the pope Paul II Barbo, who was made Grand Master of the Knights of Rodi and made use of workmen of the Veneto region, possibly the same who worked at Palazzo Venezia. This building was the seat of the Priory of the Knights of Malta until 1566 when it was transferred to the compound on the Aventine hill. The bell tower in the background belongs to the church of Santa Caterina da Siena. NO RELEASE.
