Mr Khan, who was involved in the Stephen Lawrence case, was speaking at the Ricky Reel memorial lecture at Kingston University. Ricky, 20, and a student at Brunel University, were out drinking with friends in Kingston when they were threatened by men shouting racist abuse. The young men fled, but became separated and it was a week before Ricky's body was dredged from a nearby river. Police said his death was an accident, but his family believed he was killed in a racist murder.
