Hong Kong. 17th October, 2014. Hong Kong Protests: Hong Kong riot police regroup at a pro-democracy protest in Mongkok, Hong Kong. Police had cleared a pro-democracy camp there earlier in the day but more activists appeared in the evening in a fresh attempt to block the streets. The camp was set up as part of the Occupy Central civil disobedience campaign. The Hong Kong pro-democracy supporters want to be able to elect their leader, known as the Chief Executive, without candidates being pre-screened by an unelected nominating committee. Many of the supporters also want the current Chief Executive CY Leung to step down. © Robert SC Kemp/Alamy Live News
