Franz Stassen was a close friend of Siegfried Wagner (third son of Richard Wagner) who led the the Bayreuth Festival or Richard Wagner Festival from 1908-1930. Heavily influenced by the Art Nouveau movement, he illustrating the entire Ring Cycle, as well as Parzival, Lohengrin and Tannhäuser. Photograph of original colour lithograph published in 1916.
